Sleep - wonderful when it comes easily, utterly debilitating when you're having real problems with it. Here are some tips to encourage better sleep.
Lighting low before bedtime
Relaxing activities to wind down, ie practice a relaxing ritual like bath, read a book, meditate or write.
Exercise daily - if even a short walk
No screen time 1-2 hours before bed
Good mattress and pillow
Avoid a big meal in the evening. Especially spicy and heavy food.
Restorative yoga - relaxes the nervous system
Guided relaxation. The idea is it focuses your attention on an image or parts of the body so that your mind can let go of worries or thoughts that may keep you awake.
Keep a schedule - go to bed at same time and wake at same time every day.
Keep a sleep diary so you can see any patterns or triggers that affect your sleep. https://sleepfoundation.org/sleep-diary/SleepDiaryv6.pdf
Valerian - a herbal supplement that comes from a plant native to Europe. You can get in many forms, capsules are most common. Try Infinity Food or any other good health food shop (avoid Holland & Barrett own brand as they’re not the best strength).
Lavender - again comes in many forms, essential oil is good as you can pop it in a burner with water to diffuse in your bedroom. Pop a couple of drops on your pillow. If you want to use in a bath mix it with olive oil or almond oil first.
