I've not been doing many inversions in my yoga practice of late, I felt my world was already turned upside down enough as it was and it has been more important for me to focus on gentle backbends and heart opening poses.
However, I've been missing them and have slowly started to integrate them back into my practice so here's a short headstand practice (there are two parts to it) for those of you who are already practising it.
Some benefits of this pose are:-
- It stimulates the pituitary (releases & stores hormones to help the other glands in the body) and pineal glands (helps to produce melatonin)
- It strengthens your core and tones your abdominal muscles (yes please)
- Improves your digestion
- Calms your mind and helps relieve stress
- Can help with insomnia (which makes sense if it stimulates the pineal gland which produces melatonin which helps us sleep)
Have fun, be aware in your practice and see you soon.
Have a lovely day
